Let’s Go Walkin’ Down Main Street - October 31!

Start time: 9:00 am

Start Location: Greenwood City Hall

 Walk Route: approx 1 mile; From City Hall head North on Main Street to Front Street, Right turn on Front to Howard, Head South on Howard, turn East on Johnson toward Main and end at City Hall. 

Sights to see: Walkers will pass by the historic Greenwood City Hall Building, Viking Corporate Headquarters located in the Historic Cotton Row District, the newly renovated Klein-Blumenthall building circa 1903 featuring 3 new upstairs loft apartments, continuing west toward the Keesler Bridge built in the Howe truss design constructed in 1924-1925, turning South past Staplcotn the first cooperative of its kind now marketing one fifth of the cotton in North America, the Fountain Department Store building, the award winning Alluvian Hotel and the old Greenwood Post Office designated a Mississippi Landmark in 1996.  The walk will pass by many retail establishments featuring merchandise including clothing, specialty gifts, antiques, books, shoes, jewelry, art, specialty foods/culinary products and much more! The walk will also pass the Downtown Greenwood Farmers Market, a project of Main Street Greenwood, where walkers can purchase locally grown produce, fresh artisan breads, gulf coast shrimp and enjoy live entertainment.  Click here for a complete walking tour guide of the Downtown Greenwood Historic District.
